Find your way to a comfortable place. Letting your body settle into the surface beneath you. Whether you are lying down in your bed, or resting somewhere quiet. The day is done. There is nothing left to do. Nothing to solve. Simply arrive here. In this moment. Begin by noticing your breath. Not changing it. Just noticing its gentle rhythm. In. And out. Each breath, a quiet release of the day. Now, I invite you to bring to mind one small thing from your day that you are grateful for.
It does not need to be big. Perhaps it was the warmth of a cup in your hands. The color of the sky on your way home. A kind word from a stranger. Just one small, specific moment. See it in your mind. And as you hold it there, notice the feeling that comes with it. That quiet hum of gratitude. Now, let another moment surface. A second thing you are thankful for. Maybe a song you heard. Or the simple comfort of a meal. Or a problem you finally solved. Let the memory be clear.
Feel the echo of that moment. A small, warm glow. And finally, a third thing. One more simple gift from the day that has passed. It could be the feeling of taking your shoes off at the door. The sound of laughter, your own or someone else’s. Hold this third memory gently. Now, gather these three feelings of gratitude together. Notice where you feel them in your body. Perhaps it’s a warmth in your chest. A softness in your stomach. A gentle smile on your lips. There is no right way to feel it.
Just notice where it lives in you. And now, allow that feeling to expand. Let this warmth of gratitude spread from its center. Gently filling your chest. Flowing down into your arms, and into your hands. Allow it to travel down your spine… releasing any tension there. Spreading through your legs… all the way to the tips of your toes. Your whole body, held in this soft, warm light of thankfulness. From this place, let the gratitude flow outward. Extend this feeling to the space around you.
To the bed holding you. The roof over your head. The quiet of this room. Thanking this space for its safety and its stillness. And finally… turn this feeling of gratitude inward. Toward yourself. Thank your body for carrying you through the day. Thank your heart for feeling everything it felt. Thank yourself for showing up. For doing your best. You are here. And that is enough. There is nothing left to do now but rest. Rest in this peace. Rest in this gratitude. Allow the gentle waves of this feeling to carry you into a deep and restorative sleep.
You are held. Rest now.
