The full moon is so bright, it can cast a shadow. Last night, we drifted off with Nimbus the tiny cloud as he met the West Wind among the stars. Tonight, down on the forest floor, another adventure is just beginning. In the heart of the Whispering Woods, under a blanket of soft green moss, lived a tiny mushroom named Milo. Milo was very small, with a cap the color of cream and a stem as thin as a twig. One night, the bright moon woke him up.

Everything was quiet… except for a sound. It was a gentle, low humming. Hmmmmmmmmmm. It was the most beautiful sound Milo had ever heard. He wasn't scared. He was curious. Where was that lovely music coming from? With a tiny wiggle, Milo decided to find out. He shuffled carefully from his spot, his little mushroom feet barely making a sound on the damp earth. The humming seemed to come from deeper in the woods. He followed it past a patch of glowing foxfire and under a fern that drooped like a giant green feather.

Soon, he bumped into something hard and shiny. It was a beetle, fast asleep. “Excuse me,” Milo whispered. The beetle stirred, waving his antennae. “Mmmm? What is it? Can’t you see I’m sleeping?” he grumbled. “I hear a humming sound,” Milo said softly. “It’s like a song. Do you know what it is?” The beetle yawned a big beetle yawn. “The humming? Oh, that. That’s just the forest breathing. If you want to know more, go ask the Old Moss.

It knows everything.” And with that, the beetle tucked his head in and went back to sleep. So Milo went on. He found the Old Moss growing on a fallen log. It was thick and green and felt like a velvet blanket. “Hello?” Milo called out gently. The moss didn't speak in words, but Milo felt a wise, warm feeling spread through him. He felt the moss guiding his attention… up. Up toward the sky. Milo looked up. He saw the very tallest trees in the forest, the ancient pines that touched the clouds.

The wind was weaving through their long needles, and as it moved, it sang. Hmmmmmmmmmm. It wasn't a creature making the sound. It was the wind. It was the whole forest, singing a lullaby to itself. It was the same wind that Nimbus had met, just singing a different song. Milo felt a wave of pure happiness. He wasn’t lost. He was home. The humming wasn’t a mystery to be solved. It was a song to be enjoyed. He found a cozy spot right there, nestled against the Old Moss.

He closed his eyes, listening to the wind in the tall, tall trees. The humming wrapped around him like the warmest, softest blanket. And Milo, the tiny mushroom, drifted peacefully to sleep, part of the forest's gentle, humming magic.
