Blinkist offers a curated catalogue of non-fiction books, condensed by professionals and produced in advance. Lissin has no such catalogue. You describe what you want to hear about and Lissin makes the show, which suits subjects nobody has published a summary of.
How to choose
Notice which problem you have
If the book you want condensed is a well-known business title, a curated summary service has already made a good one and you should use it. If you want ‘the last two years of argument about X’, no catalogue contains that, and Lissin can make a show on it.
Point it at your own material
Give Lissin the documents you already have that nobody else will ever summarise: your industry’s filings, your own reading pile, papers in your field.
Set it to recur
Set up a weekly show on a subject you are trying to keep up with. A catalogue of finished book summaries cannot follow a subject from week to week, and a recurring show can.

- Can Lissin summarise a specific book?
- Not from the book itself. Lissin does not hold a library of published titles, and uploading a copyrighted book you own is your call and your responsibility. Lissin can make a show about a book’s ideas from public discussion of it, but that is weaker than a licensed summary.
- Is the quality comparable to a human-written summary?
- For a well-known book, a professionally produced summary is better and you should use one. Use Lissin for subjects where no such summary exists.
- What is actually in Lissin’s library then?
- Original shows made on the platform rather than summaries of published work. You can browse and listen to all of them without an account.
What this does not do
There is no licensed catalogue of book summaries and there will not be one. If condensed non-fiction titles are the whole reason you were looking, Lissin does not replace that.
