The short answer

Speechify is a read-aloud tool: it speaks the text in front of you, in order, in a voice you choose. Lissin is a show generator: it reads the document, writes a script about it, and narrates that. If you need the exact words, Speechify is the right tool. If you need the substance on a walk, Lissin is.

How to choose

  1. Decide whether you need the words

    This is the whole choice. A contract, a set of instructions, a piece of writing whose phrasing is the point — those want reading aloud, and a rewritten version is a downgrade. A forty-page report you will otherwise never open wants a fifteen-minute show that tells you what is in it.

  2. Bring the same file

    Lissin takes a link, pasted text, or an upload — PDF, DOC, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, HTML. Whatever you were feeding a read-aloud app, hand it over the same way and describe what you want out of it instead of pressing play.

  3. Ask for the format the material deserves

    The thing a read-aloud app cannot do is change shape. Two voices arguing over a proposal, a briefing that skips the methodology, a comparison across four documents — these are the reasons to generate rather than narrate.

Questions

Can Lissin read a document verbatim like Speechify does?
You can ask for a straight read and get one, but that is not what it is built for and a dedicated read-aloud tool will do it better — it will not paraphrase, and it tracks the text on screen as it goes.
Which is better for accessibility?
A read-aloud tool, without much argument. Screen-reader-adjacent use, following along on the page, and reading exactly what is written are things Speechify is designed for and Lissin is not.
Can I use both?
That is the sensible answer for most people. Read-aloud for the documents you must read precisely; generated shows for the pile you would otherwise never get to.

What this does not do

Lissin paraphrases by design, so anything where the exact wording matters is the wrong job for it. It also has no in-page reading view and no browser extension, so the article you are looking at has to be handed over rather than read where it sits.
