Every single star you see in the night sky is bigger and brighter than our own sun. It’s a sky filled with these distant, powerful suns, a lot like the one Flicker the firefly looked up at during his very first glowing adventure. Tonight, we’re going to travel way, way up into that sky and meet one of those brand new stars. Her name was Stella, and she had just… woken up. One moment, there was nothing but cozy, quiet darkness. The next, her eyes blinked open to the most beautiful sight she could ever imagine.

She was floating in a deep velvet blanket, sprinkled with diamond dust. Other stars, old and wise, twinkled at her from far away. Some were brilliant blue, some were a soft, gentle yellow. A great, misty river of light, the Milky Way, swirled in a slow, silent dance across the whole sky. It was… breathtaking. But the sky was SO big. And Stella felt so very, very small. She looked at the giant, ancient stars and then at her own tiny, new light. What was one little spark in such a vast, glittering place?

She drifted for a while, just watching. She saw the beautiful blue and white marble of Earth turning slowly below. She could see pinpricks of light from cities, like fallen constellations. She saw the silver thread of a river, and the dark, sleeping shapes of mountains. It was all so wonderful, but she felt… distant. A little lonely. She wondered what her purpose was, why she was THERE, shining all by herself. Then, her gaze fell on one particular dark patch on the Earth. A rolling green hill, under the moonlight.

And on that hill, she saw a tiny, wandering spot of white. It was a little lamb, who had strayed from its flock. She could almost feel its confusion, its small, frightened bleats carrying on the night air, too quiet for anyone to hear. And Stella felt a little pang in her sparkly heart. She wasn't big and powerful like the other stars… but maybe… just maybe she could do SOMETHING. She took a deep, starry breath, and gathered all of her brand new light. She didn’t flash or burst.

Instead, she just… focused. She let her light grow a little steadier, a little brighter, pouring it down like a soft, silver thread. Her beam fell right on the lost lamb, making its white, woolly coat gleam in the darkness. A moment later, another light appeared on the hill—a lantern, held by a searching shepherd. The lantern’s light caught the gleam from Stella’s beam, and the shepherd hurried forward, scooping the little lamb into his arms. Stella watched as he carried it back to the warm, sleeping flock.

And as he did, she felt a warmth spread all through her, a gentle, happy hum. She wasn’t just a lonely spark in the darkness. She was a watcher. A helper. A tiny beacon of hope. And from that night on, Stella’s light never wavered, shining with a quiet, steady purpose over the sleeping world below.
